Karissa (KIRA) Uh... Who Am I? in a hissy fit and screaming like a kid |
Now...
I was in my room drawing a water dragon when it happened. Devon opened barged in without knocking. "Hey! Whats the deal?" I noticed the blood on his shirt. "Angel," I whispered. "Pete got her," he said. My mouth dropped open. Pete was obssessed with Angel. He liked her ever since he came last year.
I ran past Devon to the street, and saw Angel laying on the ground, a pool of blood surrounding. I bent to my knees and took out my phone to call 911. "Get help! My best friends been shot!" I screamed. "455 Draco Avenue." I closed my phone. Angel was losing blood, fast. I took of my jacket, in spite of the cold wind and ripped a piece off to cover the wound. "Leave me here to die Crys," she whispered. "No! You are not going to die today, or any time soon." I heard the siren and looked around. They were coming fast.
I turned around and saw Pete. I started to run toward him. He started to run. Like I said, every one was afraid of me, and they must be bold to shoot my best friend. I grabbed his shirt and he stopped. I whirled him around and punched him. He screamed like a baby. "Drop the gun," I commanded. He reached his hand in his pocket. "NOW!' He took it out and threw it a few feet away. Devon, who always wore gloves, picked it up. He handed it to a police officer, and another one took me off of him. "Let me go you idiots! He hurt my best friend!" I was in a frenzy.
Devon caught hold of me and I stopped struggling. "Let. Me. Go." He shook his head and nodded over to the ambulance. I saw them lift Angel, and I broke free from him. I had just managed to make it in before they drove away. I knew I was gonna have to pay for the hospital bill, and I wanted to make sure my best friend wasnt hurt.
They hurried her to the ER. I ran with her, but they made me wait. I was rocking back and forth when I saw Devon come in. I had seen him go inside the ER. "How is she?" "Fine. They're getting out the bullet, and transporting her to another room." "What about Pete?" I hated saying that name. "Police station. They're gonna put him in jail." I grinned. A nurse called me to take me to Angel's new room.
When I came in, she tried to sit up. She winced, then laid back down. "Hi guys. I hate this place. They dont have an arcade." I looked around the unfamiliar room. "Hello Crystea." I winced. "Crys," I heard Devon whisper. I turned around to face him. "Look." I looked at the doctor. It was my doctor, Dr. Jane. "Its not you that here this time. Thats an improvement." I rushed at her, but Devon grabbed my hand. I looked over at Angel, who was resting now. We went out and started walking to the orphanage. It wasnt far, just 2 blocks.
When I got there, I went straight to my room and got the Holy Bible. I opened it up to Psalms 23, my favorite scripture. I read it over and over, then finally felt some comfort. I opened the door to a secret room that no one knew about, and closed the door behind me. I looked around at the drawings of Devon, and of my grandmother, who was dead. I locked the door, and cried. I stayed in during lunch and dinner. I heard something in my room and peeked out through the door. It was Devon. He was reading the Bible and looking at my newest drawings. I swore. I had forgotten all about my water dragon. But I decided not to finish. It wouldnt be the first. The dragon was already drawn all the way, with water coming out of its mouth.
Half of it was blue, and fading into white. I took down all the drawings of Devon and hid them in a trunk. I locked it, then pocketed the key. I opened the door to the secret room, and walked out. I sat on a chair, and looked down. I had a new poster that I wanted to make, and it said, EVEN TRUE PEOPLE COULD DIE. I knew it didnt make sense, but I was in a worried state. Things were going through my head. Angel, Pete, hospital, ambulance... "you okay?" I looked up. Devon was staring at me. "Yeah." He stood up, patted my shoulder, and went to his room.
