Chapter 1

A New Life

It was the beginning of august and the winds blew hard against my cheeks. The

trees turned into a variety of warm colors blending in with the weather. I clutched my

jacket tighter and looked at my surroundings. There were kids flying kites, people

running frantically to get home, and birds getting ready to migrate. I sighed and sat

down on a nearby bench. Having just moved to San Francisco, I had a hard time accustoming to everything.

I moved here with my mother, Teresa, after she divorced my father. I took their divorce

like nothing, after all, they’d always fight constantly and they barely recognized my

existence. Why is that, you ask? I was a mistake. I was created in an unfortunate night

where alcohol and dancing were involved. They never meant to have a child, so that’s

why they could care less of what happened to me.

You might be wondering. “How could they be so cruel?!.” The answer’s simple.

Money. Both my mother and father were born filthy rich and as you all know; they were

spoiled. Soon, they started to become cold persons, abandoning their own parents and

soon, they became what they are now. People say I’m lucky to be rich and that I should

enjoy the luxuries that they give me, but they don’t understand. I could care less of the

money and material things. What I really want is someone to appreciate me and love

me like a daughter. Not some kind of person that you’re forced to take care of because

of some stupid mistake. I want someone to be there for me and cheer me on through the

hardest times. I want a real family. The only real family I was close to have, is my

adorable pet weasel, Blaze.

I shook my head at my ridiculous thoughts before standing up and walking

towards school.

After my first class, everyone headed to lunch. I waited in the lunch line for my food

and looked around the cafeteria for familiar faces.

“OOH!! OOH!! RACHEL, OVER HERE—!!”

“Shut up, you moron!! People are looking!!”

I quickly turned my attention to the noise and chuckled to myself. I approached the

table and smiled. “Nice to see you two again, Randy, Claire.”

The said boy named Randy grinned and scratched the back of his head.

“Hehehe…nice to see you again too, Rachel…”

BONK!

“OW! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!”

“For being a complete and utter idiot.” Replied the girl, Claire.

I quirked my brow. “Are you two dating or something?”

I watched as their faces rapidly changed to shock, embarrassment, and anger.

“WHAT!? WHO WOULD DATE SOMEONE AS UGLY/RETARDED AS HER/HIM!?” both shouted.

I laughed. “Sure… you say that now but in a few years, you’d probably be sucking each other’s faces.”

Their faces turned a sickly color of green.

I rolled my eyes. “Geez, I was just kidding. You’d probably just beat the shit out of each other and then make out.”

They both glared at me.

I smirked and poked the thing that was supposed to be macaroni and cheese. I then scrunched up my nose and pushed the plate away

from me.

“Do shoo vant chat?!” asked Randy, spitting food everywhere.

“UGH!! DON’T TALK WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL, YOU IDIOT!!” Screamed Claire.

I laughed and then proceeded to think that maybe this place wasn’t so bad.
