Chapter 10

“Hey Kaitlyn, what’s up?” Josh asked after school.

“Nothing much, you?” I asked as we walked to our bus.

“Nothing,” he said.

“What’s the point of saying what’s up when they answer nothing much you?” I asked.

“Lol I don’t know,” he said.

It had been a few weeks since he told me he liked me. That was in October. Now it was November 26, the day before Thanksgiving. Half day release.

“So how’s Skating Serena coming along?” he asked.

“Awesome, I met this guy who skateboards,” I said.

“Do you like him?” he asked.

“No! As a friend,” I said.

“Oh” he said.

“My stop is here, bye!” I said.

“See ya,” he said.

When I came home, someone phone me

Katie: Sup K

Me: Um…hi? you never talk to me anymore

Katie: Well…hello! Now I will

Me: Why?

Katie: I don’t know

Katie: So…I heard you’re going out with Josh?

Me: I’m not ‘going out’ were just friends

Katie: Sure Ok

Katie: The other day, I saw you walking with Matt

Me: Yeah it was for something

Katie: You go girl!

Me: What?

Katie: Hanging out with Josh, an EIGHTH grader, you’re getting popular and that’s how you’re gonna get the boys right?

Me: What NO! I—

Katie: SO

Katie interrupted me

Katie: If you want, you can be part of our group, the populars

Me: Really??

I ALWAYS wanted to be popular but I tried not to show it. Now was my chance!

Katie: Yeah, so why ARE you going out—I mean being ‘friends’ with Josh?

Me: I don’t know…maybe because I wanted to be friends with you LOL

I was lying. I knew it was true. But so what? Josh liked me, I liked him. AND I was going to be popular. Awesomeness.

Katie: Bye!

Me: But wait! We’re friends now right?

Katie: Sure we are

Katie: I have to go somewhere

Katie: Bye my good friend!

Me: Bye!
